Proper medical care is extremely important to help children grow up healthy and reach their full potential. Children who lack access to treatment are at higher risk of developing preventable conditions that can significantly impair their daily lives.
Many families in Ukraine cannot afford to provide their children basic medical and dental care. Parents are forced to forgo regular checkups as well as important diagnostic procedures, because they must spend their limited funds on food and other daily necessities. As the crises continues, nearing the 3-year mark, children are in desperate need of treatment.
JRNU has been working hard with local communities to document the medical and dental conditions of children. The staff conduct careful reviews in their triage of thousands of cases. Services provided range from dental care to EKGs, to address everything from neglected oral health to cerebral palsy. While it is impossible to immediately address the many needs of the children in Ukraine, we continue to do everything possible to provide critical aid, one child at a time:
Igor, from Cherkassy, received an orthopedic orthosis for his knee.
Dmitry had an MRI of his brain.
Adrian, from the Mishpacha boarding school in Odessa underwent a battery of tests to diagnose neurological, heart, and other health problems; his classmate Levy received a much needed pair of glasses.
Alina received treatment from an ophthalmologist who indicated regular follow up is needed to preserve her vision.
A child with cerebral palsy received a comprehensive medical examination including an EKG and visit with a cardiologist.
Ilya, Lev and David come from a large family, and their dental care had been neglected. The children’s teeth and oral health is much improved after visits to the dentist.
Sisters Ira and Tamara also received much needed care.
Two brothers were given orthopedic shoes.
It is a privilege to help and support the people of Ukraine, and especially the children who have suffered so much.
Together we save lives and restore hope.
