The Ovseychuk family is from the village of Ushomyr, in the Zhitomir region. At the outset of the crisis, their village was a frequent target of airstrikes, due to the proximity of several military installations. The oldest son, Sergey, was living away from home, studying at the Or Avner Jewish school in Zhytomyr. The mother, Svetlana, felt it would be better for the family to be together, and summoned Sergey to return home to Ushomyr.
The village continued to be hit by bombs and missiles, destroying most of the buildings. The Ovseychuk family stayed in their home as long as possible, hiding in the basement, not wanting to flee. But eventually the situation became too dangerous, and the family moved to Korosten, Svetlana’s hometown. Unfortunately, the situation in Korosten was no better. The air raids were relentless, sending the family to a neighbor’s basement on a regular basis.
Sergey traveled to Israel where he continues his studies, but the rest of the family remains in Korosten, where life is difficult. The humanitarian aid we provide is of great assistance, and the back-to-school certificates were most appreciated!
Together we save lives and restore hope.
