With continued attacks on the port and grain silos in Odessa, as recently as today, the cost of food is increasing around the world. In Ukraine many people rely on JRNU to supply food for their families. Our network of rabbis, staff and volunteers ensure no one we know goes hungry. In some cities, such as Vinnytsia, we offer hot meals at the community center and delivered to the homes of many elderly and disabled individuals. In other places, we distribute large food parcels with an assortment of goods and personal hygiene items and other necessities. In many places, including Cherkasy, Bila Tserkva, and Pervomaysk, we provide families with grocery store vouchers enabling them to purchase the items they need most. The certificates, which carry the added benefit of supporting the local economy, are feasible in locations where the stores are regularly stocked and our constituents are able to get out and shop.
For more than 17 months we have been supporting tens of thousands of families across Ukraine; today more than 50,000 rely on us for help. Thanks to generous donors from around the world, we are able to provide for the physical, mental and spiritual needs of the Jews in Ukraine. We are busy preparing for the upcoming High Holidays to bring joy and restore hope to all.
