The first night of Hanukkah in Ukraine brought massive air strikes that took out power in many cities across the country. But the attacks didn't prevent thousands of Jews from gathering to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
Cars drove through the streets with giant menorahs on the roof, as hundreds of people gathered inside synagogues to celebrate. There was joy, happiness, and light despite the continued darkness of war.
We commend the local rabbis, staff and volunteers for once again making Hanukkah in Ukraine a special time in the Jewish communities and reminding people they are not alone and not forgotten.
Together we save lives and restore hope.
Happy Hanukkah!
