Over the past week, Jewish communities across Ukraine came together to pray and express their unwavering support for the people of Israel. Thousands of people took part in these gatherings, organized in response to the horrific acts of terrorism on October 7th as well as the ongoing crisis in Israel. Local rabbis led the events, sharing words of faith and comfort; those who attended prayed for the speedy recovery of the wounded and blessed the memory of those whose lives were taken.
In some cities, rallies were held in the streets, and community members delivered powerful speeches emphasizing solidarity between Ukrainian Jews and Israel. Memorial candles were lit in synagogues and community centers to honor the memory of the fallen, and the Star of David was displayed as a testament to unwavering support.
At Jewish schools, students organized prayer ceremonies, created beautiful artwork, and wrote poems and resolutions, to express their support for Israel and their hope for an end to the violence.
