“We are the Yashchenkos. I am Alyona, and my son, Myron is 6 years old. My husband lives some distance away and comes to visit when he can.
We left the city of Kostyantynivka in April 2022. The situation there is terrible, with a forced evacuation of children and a curfew from 15:00 to 18:00 daily. The city is hit with shells every day; not a single school or kindergarten has survived.
We are currently renting an apartment, and the conditions are satisfactory. At first, we had to get rid of mold all over the apartment, but now it's better. We fled our home in Kostyantynivka with very few items, and it's impossible to go to retrieve anything now. The city is under heavy fire and the road has been destroyed.
Our situation is a bit complicated for us because my son has a bladder condition, and it is aggravated from time to time due to anxiety. Being away from home, living in temporary quarters amidst great uncertainty about the future is not easy for him. The doctors promised he will outgrow the condition with time.
We are very grateful to JRNU for its constant help and support, especially the store vouchers that allowed me to buy needed products for my son. Their support allowed me to pay for his treatment along with the purchase of diapers, which we now desperately need. Thank you.”
