Medicine and Medical Care: Addressing Critical Needs

NOVEMBER 9TH 2023

Limited access to medicine and medical care continue to threaten the lives of millions of Ukrainians. For those who manage to gain access, the cost is a major driver of financial hardship. Many people are forced to go without critical medication and treatment for pain, heart and high blood pressure conditions, asthma and more.

Pharmacies struggle to maintain adequate supplies of prescription and over-the-counter medicine, due to ongoing challenges with the transportation and supply systems. More than a third of households report at least one person forced to forego their medication due to the ongoing conflict. Doctors and hospitals face severe constraints as well, resulting in millions of people not receiving necessary treatment.

JRNU has been providing critical medications and medical care (including mental health treatment) throughout the crisis. This week in Cherkasy, little Pavlo, who was forced to flee his home in Mariupol, received breathing treatments for his asthma. Daniil, in Odesa, participated in therapy to address the significant issues he (and other children) face after 20 months of crisis. Medicine was distributed in Poltava, Uzhhorod and Mykolaiv, and an urgent surgical procedure was arranged in Kyiv.

With your support we continue to take care of the most vulnerable segments of the population, from the young to the old. Our staff work closely with individuals and community leaders to ensure we are saving lives and restoring hope, efficiently and effectively.

Together we Save Lives and Restore Hope!
