The deadly attacks on Ukraine continued this weekend. Last week at least 12 people were killed in air strikes and more than 120 were injured in Kharkiv, Kherson and Kyiv.
This weekend, residential buildings in the capital city were again damaged by drones and missiles, killing five people. More than 100 missiles and drones were aimed at Dnipro where the upper floor of an apartment building in the city center was destroyed. Last night a medical building in Kharkiv was seriously damaged; one person was killed in the attack and 17 were injured.
The war is exacting an unimaginable toll on the people of Ukraine as they continue running in and out of bomb shelters. The need for humanitarian aid is immense as people struggle to make ends meet. The price of food and other essential items continue to escalate, while many women struggle to maintain their household while the men are defending their country. Fortunately, the cost of living in Ukraine is relatively low, a family of four can generally get by on just $1,500 per month. But mothers with young children struggle to earn a living while also caring for their children, and the elderly receive very meager amounts for their pensions. Accordingly, the assistance we provide is more important than ever.
The hot meals we provide to Cherkasy and Sumy are essential. And kids enjoyed the snacks we distributed in Bila Tserkva, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv, and Odessa. The medical and dental care is ongoing, particularly for kids who are out of school for the summer.
Thanks to our generous donors who make our work possible, saving lives and restoring hope.
