In 2022, in the midst of the crisis caused by the war, the Kutsenkos faced another major issue, as their son Andriy was having difficulty hearing. Doctors confirmed the young man was suffering from bilateral hearing loss which was creating problems with his studies, his friends and family.
At school, Andriy struggled to hear his teachers and constantly asked them to repeat or explain lessons. He also had difficulty understanding his classmates, resulting in isolation, anxiety, and despair. Andriy's hearing problems were interfering with his growth, development and wellbeing.
"Unfortunately, modern digital hearing aids are very expensive, and our family could not afford them," says Andriy's mother, Marianna.
Jewish Relief Network Ukraine supported Andriy and his family with hearing aids and molded ear plugs. With the new devices he could hear the world around him, fully participate in school, and communicate with his friends and family.
"You have given our child an invaluable chance at a full life. We are immensely grateful for your kindness," said Marianna.
Thanks to support from our donors, we were able to restore more than hearing for Andriy. With the ability to hear, Andriy has regained self-confidence and excitement for what the future may hold. He is enjoying a normal childhood, brightening the lives of his entire family.
Together we save lives and restore hope.
