The Mishpacha Orphanage in Odessa has once again rescued a child in need, this time an infant just two weeks old. Baby Sarah was born in Zaporizhia to a mother who was injured in the war and is unable to care for the baby:
“We received the request from Rabbi Nahum Arntroy and his wife, Dina,” says Rabbi Avraham Wolff, who manages the Mishpacha orphanage along with his wife, Chaya. “This is a very challenging case of a mother who has suffered both physically and emotionally and asked us to care for her daughter.”
Sarah is the sixth infant transferred to the Mishpacha Orphanage since the outbreak of the war. “The children and the staff warmly welcomed Sarah,” adds Rabbi Wolff. “Sarah is joining our extended family, and with the help of G-d we will provide her with warmth and love just like we do for the other children.”
The dedication of Rabbi Wolff, his family and the staff, to the safety and well-being of the Mishpacha Orphanage children has been nothing but extraordinary! Immediately after the invasion they evacuated the children to Berlin, where they remained for a year, in two different locations. In March 2023, they traveled back to their home in Odessa with the children. Throughout the war, despite the many challenges they faced, the orphanage has given the children a safe, warm and loving place to call home, where they are provided physical, emotional and spiritual support.
Thanks to support from generous donors, the Mispacha Orphanage continues to serve as a refuge for the children of Ukraine.
