Oleg Sherman, a lawyer, lives with his wife and son in the City of Chernihiv, where he was born and raised. When the crisis began in 2022, Oleg immediately stepped up to help his neighbors and friends, spending long days and nights in the basement of the community center. He stood guard to protect the people, and he helped arrange and negotiate evacuations.
As soon as the invading troops left Chernihiv, Oleg reported for duty to serve his country. Sadly, he recently returned home, in poor health and without a source of income. The medications he requires for asthma and hypertension are costly, and his limited means barely cover food and heat.
