This summer we partnered with Caritas Chernigov, to provide hundreds of jars of peanut butter to people in need. The peanut butter was donated to us by Peanut Proud, a non-profit organization established to unite the peanut industry in supporting humanitarian efforts throughout the world. Over the past 14 years the coalition of growers, producers, and distributors provided millions of jars of the hearty treat to people around the world; more than 100,000 jars have been sent to Ukraine since 2022.
Several months ago, we received our latest shipment of 30,000 jars of peanut butter, most of which we distributed to Jewish communities throughout Ukraine. We also worked with local Ukrainian charities to reach even more people in need. Caritas Chernigov has been providing humanitarian assistance in Ukraine for 30 years. In addition to distributing clothing, footwear, and other necessary items, they operate social service programs and substance abuse treatment centers, they provide aid to immigrants and those who are ill or infirm, and they run soup kitchens for the hungry. Caritas also has specialized programs for children of migrant laborers and pediatric cancer patients.
In June, we provided Caritas Chernigov with pallets of peanut butter that they distributed to the local community. As a result of the crisis, the number of people they serve has increased substantially, including many displaced individuals who relocated to the area. We are grateful to Peanut Proud for their generous donation, and we appreciate the hard work of the staff and volunteers of Caritas Chernigov who ensured the peanut butter reached people in need. Thanks to our partnerships and generous donors we are continuing to save lives and restore hope. Together we are ensuring no one is left behind.
