School's Out

JULY 1ST 2024

Another school year is in the books! Thousands of students completed their studies and bid their instructors farewell, as they left for summer break. The parting was bittersweet for teachers and students alike. For most of the children, school represented much more than a place of academic instruction. Over the past couple of years, JRNU sponsored schools have provided physical, emotional and spiritual support for kids and their families: meals, heat, safety, enrichment activities, counseling, support and encouragement.

The year was not without challenges, as children often spent entire days in the bomb shelters that have been converted into classrooms. Industrial generators were used to provide heat and light during power outages. Teachers and other education staff were provided special training and individual support to address the significant mental health issues arising from the ongoing crisis.

Over the summer, most of the children will maintain connections with peers and leaders, through attendance at JRNU sponsored day camps and participation in community activities. In addition to continuing to provide humanitarian aid to kids and their families, we will also provide additional support as needed.

We look forward to welcoming children back to our schools in the fall, and hope that they will be able to learn in peace, without the stress and uncertainty they have endured over the past couple of years.

With your help we continue to save lives and restore hope.

Together, we Save Lives and Restore Hope!
