Recently, 60 students attended the STARS Ukraine’s 19th annual winter seminar, where they spent a week learning about Judaism, while enjoying a needed break from the ongoing crisis. JRNU was honored to support this event.
Rabbi Pinchas Vishedski, CEO of STARS Ukraine along with his wife Dina, hosted the seminar. They created a warm and inviting atmosphere that provided participants tremendous opportunities to learn about their heritage and connect with peers:
“Our unwavering commitment to maintaining these seminars and year-round student activities has proven invaluable,” Rabbi Vishedski shared. “Even during the most challenging times, we persisted in embracing our students and young professionals, and today we’re seeing the results. Our winter seminar exceeded sixty participants for the first time since the crisis began, indicating a strong desire to participate in this exceptional program.”
Many of the seminar attendees came from small towns with no rabbi and with only limited opportunities to learn about Judaism. Traveling to the Carpathian Mountains afforded the participants a break from the stress and pressure of daily life; the peaceful surroundings encouraged spiritual growth and rejuvenation. In addition to enjoying a memorable Shabbat celebration, the students spent six days in immersive learning and exploration.
Throughout the ongoing crisis we have worked hard attending to the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of individuals.
Together we save lives and restore hope.
