For more than two decades, Jewish children in Ukraine have attended summer camps, where they have fun and connect with their Jewish heritage -- this year will be no exception. After more than 2 years of crisis, kids are stressed, anxious, and tired; they are in desperate need of fun, relaxation and renewal.
Much like the United States, campers in Ukraine enjoy the outdoors, do arts and crafts, bond with peers, and much more. Additionally, they learn songs and prayers, and are immersed in Jewish traditions and practices. Most importantly, camp instructors and leaders create a positive, supportive, and safe environment where kids develop meaningful connections with peers and with their faith.
For the past couple of years, Jewish camps in Ukraine have included mental health services and counseling sessions, provided to campers based on their need. We host both overnight and daily programs, and even provide opportunities for family members to participate as well. Given the ongoing dire financial situations facing most Ukrainian families, few can afford to send their kids to camp. We are working hard to cover enrollment fees for as many children as possible, as we know it is critical to give children (and their parents) a break from the trauma they have endured for more than 2 years. We welcome your support to ensure no child is left behind.
Together we save lives and restore hope.
