Despite the ongoing crisis, which this past weekend resulted in civilian deaths and injuries in the Odessa and Dnipro regions as well as the cities of Zhytomyr and Kherson, we proudly recognize important efforts to support the Jewish youth in Ukraine.
For the tenth consecutive year, STARS Ukraine hosted a unique Passover retreat in Kyiv, with more than 40 Jewish students and young professionals joining from across the country.
The popular event gave the participants an opportunity to observe Passover with their peers, teaching and reinforcing important traditions and providing a much-needed break from the daily stress of war. Participants enjoyed Seders, prayers, lectures, field trips, music concerts, and more:
“It’s truly overwhelming to witness how in Ukraine there are so many young Jews seeking to observe Passover according to tradition,” explains Rabbi Wishedsky who leads Stars Ukraine. “Observing Passover at home can be a delicate and complex issue—not to mention challenging and sometimes unaffordable. This is why we created the ‘Passover for Students’ initiative ten years ago, to accommodate every student who wishes to experience a meaningful Passover.”
JRNU supported the project along with the YAHAD youth organization directed by Rabbi Mendy Wilansky, and Rabbi Avi Cassel from the global STARS organization.
