The human toll of the ongoing crisis is immense, including deaths and injuries. The long-term physical, mental, and social consequences are significant as well, including displacement, economic hardship, and the separation of families.
The impact of the conflict is felt by everyone in Ukraine, young and old. For little Eva, just two years old, and her infant sister, it has meant the absence of their father who was mobilized and sent far from their home. Eva’s mother moved the family back to her grandmother's small house in Pervomaysk, as they could no longer afford their apartment on the husband's limited salary.
Eva’s mother cannot find work, because she has to care for her young children at home. Sadly her grandmother is unable to help because she looks after her seriously ill son (Eva’s uncle) who suffers from cerebral palsy. Little Eva is a smart and sociable child who yearns for the warm embrace of her father. Her mother fears for the safety of her husband and entire family, and she worries everyday about their ability to afford essential items including food, utilities, and medicine. We hope and pray for the swift return of Eva's father to his family; in the meantime we are providing aid and support, as we do for tens of thousands of people all across Ukraine.
Together we save lives and restore hope.
