Last week, an older couple from Israel wanted to ensure that their daughter, who works for US AID and is stationed in Kyiv, would receive a Mishloach Manot for Purim. With no friends or relatives in Kyiv (or anywhere in Ukraine), they contacted JRNU asking for help.
Within minutes, the staff in Ukraine were on the line collecting pertinent information such as the daughter’s name, address and phone number.
Within days, the local Chabad Rabbi, Mordechai Levenharts, made plans to personally deliver the package to the young woman, bringing with him holiday greetings from her parents in Israel.
Thousands of miles will separate this family during Purim, but the love and caring that was shared from parents to child, embodied in a package of treats and ceremonial items, will make the holiday a special time for the family.
The father expressed his gratitude for our efforts: "Wow thank you so much for all your efforts, it's really appreciated, we just got a photo of my daughter with the mishloach manot. Thank you again to all of you and again happy AND SAFE PURIM."
