Times Are Tough In Chernivitsi, For The Young And Old

FEBRUARY 29TH 2024

The Arseniy family of five (three young children) live in a one room apartment, with several beloved pets. Money is tight: the father works but the mother has been unemployed for some time. They do the best they can to provide the children with love and support, and maintain a positive outlook despite their dire circumstances.

Similarly, the Ushkats family lives in a small rented apartment in Chernivtsi; they fled their home in Kharkov, fearing for their safety. The young daughter is enrolled in kindergarten but the parents have not found work; money is very tight. Jewish Relief Network Ukraine regularly provides these and thousands of other families with food, clothes, hygiene products household items and more, to support their daily survival.

Raisa, a Holocaust survivor, also lives in Chernivtsi. At 90 years old she has a variety of health conditions and rarely ventures outside her apartment. The combination of poor vision and unsteadiness on her feet, makes Raisa afraid of falling, so she makes her way around the apartment holding on to the furniture. Cooking is a challenge, so Raisa was exceedingly grateful for the thermos provided by JRNU; she fills the unit with water in the morning and enjoys hot coffee, tea or soup all day without needing to return to the kitchen!

The people of Chernivtsi continue to persevere, and we continue to support them. With your help we save lives and restore hope.

Together we Save Lives and Restore Hope!
