Last week, a group of Jewish mothers returned to Ukraine after an incredible eight day visit to Israel. The trip, coordinated by Momentum, included women from around the world and provided an exceptional opportunity for participants to bond over shared values and experiences. Together, the women traveled throughout Israel, visiting the Nova musical festival and Reim Kibbutz, sites of the October 7th tragedies. While there, the women helped begin writing a Torah scroll in memory of the victims, and harvested strawberries at a settlement nearby.
In Jerusalem the group toured Yad Vashem, the famous holocaust museum, prayed at the Western Wall, and had an emotional meeting with a student from Odessa who enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), as a “lone soldier.” The mothers participated in his induction ceremony at the Western Wall, standing in for his family that was back in Ukraine.
Throughout the trip, the women learned how to unify communities around Jewish values and build support for new initiatives. They returned home rejuvenated and energized. Armed with new knowledge, wisdom, experiences and a global sisterhood, the mothers are better prepared to support their communities, providing inspiration and hope, and building a better future.
With your help, we continue to save lives and restore hope.
