Update on the Needs in Ukraine

JULY 31ST 2023

The fighting in Ukraine continues, presently concentrated in Kyiv and the northwestern part of the country. More and more people are forced to flee their homes, as buildings and infrastructure are destroyed. With more than 5.1 million internally displaced people and 6.2 million refugees, 17.6 million Ukrainians have relied on humanitarian assistance this year.

Our work has expanded to meet the growing need. This week we delivered groceries to a mother with two young children who are displaced from the Luhansk region and now living in Kyiv, and also to an elderly woman with her granddaughter in Mykolayiv. We provided dental and other hygiene products to a mother and son from Uzhhorod, and to a family with three daughters in Uzhhorod. A disabled woman in Khmelnystkyi received critical medication, a woman in Uzhhorod got a hot meal, and a little girl in Kyiv was thrilled to find a stuffed toy hidden in the groceries package her family received!

JRNU continues our tireless efforts to provide much needed support. In addition, summer camps continue where hundreds of children enjoy a bit of normalcy and break from the war. Last week thousands of people joined us for services in observance of the saddest holiday of the year--Tisha B'av, and we are working hard to prepare for the upcoming high holidays.

Please continue to remember the people of Ukraine; together we save lives and restore hope.

Together we Save Lives and Restore Hope!
