Vlad, a little boy from Cherkassy, was born with disabilities that affect his speech, as well as his reading and writing skills. For the past two years, we arranged for Vlad to work with a medical professional who helps him with learning and communication skills. The progress has been amazing: Vlad learned to read and write, his pronunciation and enunciation improved substantially, and his vocabulary increased. The skilled specialist was able to keep Vlad engaged and focused during their sessions, leading to remarkable improvements.
Vlad’s treatment has been funded through one of our many social services programs that support families throughout Ukraine. Unfortunately, there was a pause in Vlad’s treatment, as funds were temporarily diverted in response to crisis caused by the war. Vlad’s family was unable to cover the cost of the sessions during the hiatus, particularly after Vlad's mother broke her leg and required a cane to walk. Vlad’s speech deteriorated, making it more difficult to understand what he was saying, despite his mother’s efforts to work with him.
Vlad’s treatment resumed prior to the start of this school year, and he has responded well. His mother has been very pleased with his progress; Vlad is an active participant in school and is keeping up with his studies.
Vlad’s mother is grateful for the services provided to her son; without JRNU, she would be unable to provide Vlad the treatment and support he needs to develop and grow into an independent young man.
Together we save lives and restore hope.
