Two weeks ago, the Jewish community of Kharkiv laid to rest a 30-year-old man who was killed in a barrage of airstrikes. In total, 45 people lost their lives (and many more were injured) in a span of a just few days, in cities across the country including Kyiv and Lviv as well as Kharkiv. Artem Reznik, an only child, had just arrived to work at 7:35 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, when a massive barrage of rocket fire hit the city. His mother, Marina, is an active member of the local Jewish community, volunteering each month to prepare food packages for those in need.
Even as they were mourning the tragedy of Reznik’s death and preparing for continued attacks, the Jewish community of Kharkiv was planning a celebration for three men—a 15-year-old and two men in their 70s—who underwent a brit milah. A big Mazel Tov to them!
“May we soon see an end of all war and suffering, and peace in the whole world,” said Miriam Moscovitz, wife of Rabbi Moshe Moscovitz of Kharkiv. With your help, we continue to support the people of Ukraine and restore hope.
